International meeting on the issues of export control
On the 27th of March, 2009 in Kiev in the framework of Ukrainian “ Swedish Contract Improvement of the Export Control System of Ukraine an international meeting of export control experts was held. It was devoted to the issues of legal provisions and practical aspects of intangible transfers of technology subject to state export control. The matter was about transfer of technology via electronic means, fax or telephone and also in oral form during training, scientific conferences, sharing experiences etc.
At the beginning of the meeting the representatives of the State Service for Export Control of Ukraine (SSECU) brought to the attention of foreign colleagues status of the control over intangible transfers of technology in Ukraine having underlined the necessity to improve relevant provisions of the national legislation.
Representatives of Sweden and Finland informed on regulatory framework and practices of export controls for intangible transfers of technology in their countries; answered numerous questions put by participants of the meeting. A special attention was paid to the activities of the state bodies of EU member states on informing potential exporters of controlled technologies with legal requirements to such transfers and possible proliferation risks.

The information received during the meeting will be used in further work on improving Ukrainian legislation and practices in the field of export control.
