International seminar “Key elements of EU and Ukrainian export control legislation” on 28-29 November, 2007
In the framework of the the EU Pilot Project “Expanding EU cooperation with third countries in export control of dual-use goods” the Scientific and Technical Center on the initiative of the State Service for Export Control of Ukraine and German Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) has provided organization of the international seminar “Key elements of EU and Ukrainian export control legislation” on 28-29 November, 2007 in Kyiv. The aim of this international event was to inform the representatives of the public authorities of Ukraine about the fundamentals of implementing export control in the EU Member-States and in Ukraine.
Experienced export control specialists from European Union (Werner Knapp, Jana Dlhopolcekova, Werner Haider) and Ukraine (Oleksandr Hryshutkin, Oleksandr Pereverzev, Serhiy Shevchyuk, Tetyana Vidzigovs’ka, Lyudmyla Checheyuk, Yuriy Lazarenko, Evhen Hrytsay) were making their presentations for two days.
The presentations covered the main issues that describe the mechanism of implementing export control in EU and Ukraine, namely: the main elements of the export process, basic terminology in the field of export control, the role of international export control regimes, the structure of the List of dual-use goods, control procedures over the export of listed and non-listed items.
After the first day of the seminar Director of the Scientific and Technical Center, Oleksandr Siver, invited all participants for a Round table where they could continue their discussions and raise additional questions.
