Concept of Information and Analytical Bureau

The Scientific and Technical Center on Export and Import of Special Technologies, Hardware and Materials (STC) is providing a Concept of establishment in Ukraine a specialized Information and analytical Bureau “Security and Nonproliferation” for consideration of the STC’s Web-site users. This project proposal was developed on the occasion of International Conference “The physical safety and control over nuclear materials in Ukraine: previous achievements and agenda for the future of the Global Partnership” that was held in Ukraine on January 24-26, 2006 and made a significant contribution to Ukraine’s direct involvement with the Global Partnership Initiative.

For the information of the STC’s web-site visitors, experts and guests - this project proposal was developed by the team of specialists and experts dealing with issues of WMD nonproliferation and the control over international transfers of arms. In our opinion at present time there is a lack of such specialized information resource in Ukraine that could cover issues of national and international security, WMD nonproliferation and export control clearly and broadly enough.

The aim of promulgation of this project proposal that STC has already begun to implement is:
1. To receive responses, proposals, critical remarks on the STC Forum regarding the Concept itself; the most interesting of which will be published in the “Security and Nonproliferation” journal.
2. To create entirely open to the public electronic resource, where everybody will be able to find information, reference data, analytical reviews of the specialists and experts on the mentioned above topics in interesting and attractive form.
